Mailchimp
Mailchimp adds newsletter subscription and lead capture capabilities, adding subscribers directly into your audiences.
What your site can do with Mailchimp
- Add new newsletter subscribers with tags and merge tags
- Trigger automated Mailchimp welcome journeys and onboarding sequences
- Track subscriber confirmation status (subscribed or pending double opt-in)
Common use cases
| Example app | Example prompt | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Newsletter signup | Use Mailchimp and subscribe users to my weekly newsletter. | Visitors submit their email and are enrolled in your Mailchimp audience. |
| Lead magnet download | Use Mailchimp to tag subscribers as 'ebook' and send the PDF. | Applies a tag to trigger an automated email delivery workflow. |
Prerequisites
- A Mailchimp account
- A Mailchimp API Key (ending in your datacenter, e.g. -us21)
- Audience ID (List ID) found under Audience Settings
Set up Mailchimp
- In Mailchimp, open Account & billing → Extras → API Keys.
- Create a new API key and copy it (ensure it ends with your datacenter prefix, e.g. -us19).
- Go to Audience → Settings → Audience name and defaults to find your Audience ID.
- In the Studio, open Connectors → Mailchimp, paste both values, and republish.
Limitations
- If double opt-in is active, subscribers will not receive regular mailings until confirming via email.
- API keys without the server suffix (e.g. -usX) cannot authenticate.
